Sean brings more than 25 years of IP experience across Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, advising clients in some of the most technically demanding areas of patent practice: biotechnology, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and veterinary sciences.

As a registered Trans-Tasman Patent Attorney and Attorney of the High Court of South Africa, he combines deep scientific expertise with cross-jurisdictional legal training that is genuinely rare in the market.

His academic background spans science, law and humanities, culminating in a PhD in neuroscience from RMIT University. His doctoral research focused on identifying and characterising a novel excitatory amino acid transporter in rodent brains, work with potential therapeutic applications in neurological, neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders.

That scientific depth informs how he approaches complex patent landscapes, from patentability assessments through to strategic portfolio development for research institutions and industry clients. Beyond practice, Sean lectures in biomedicine, business law, human rights, intellectual property, medical sciences and property law at multiple universities.
