Turning complex technology into protected innovation.

We speak your engineers' language

Our attorneys have engineering and applied science backgrounds, and we use them. When we join a technical discussion, your team doesn’t have to slow down to explain why interrupt latency matters or how a bus protocol behaves. We already follow it — so the conversation goes straight to the questions that matter: what’s genuinely new here, what could a competitor copy or design around, and what’s worth the cost of protecting.

That changes the working relationship. Instead of your engineers translating for a lawyer, you get a working session — refining the invention and deciding what to protect with a patent and what to keep as a trade secret, a valuable piece of know-how you hold closely rather than publish.

We work where the decisions get made

The IP decisions with the longest commercial consequences are made early — while the product is still being built, not after it ships. That’s where we want to be: close enough to the development work to spot inventions worth protecting that your team may not have flagged, and to catch a costly mistake before it happens — such as publicly revealing an invention too soon, which in most countries can forfeit the right to patent it.

Working this closely, we tell you the things that matter commercially — not just the ones you asked about: that a feature you assumed was routine is actually your strongest protection, that a planned product announcement should wait a fortnight, or that a competitor’s patent sits close enough to your roadmap that you should check now whether you’re clear to sell in that market — rather than discovering a problem after launch.

Speak with a patent attorney

We think about your product, not just your patent

A patent is only useful if it does a commercial job: protecting your product roadmap, blocking the easy workaround, and holding up when it matters most — in front of investors, an acquirer, or a partner you’re licensing to.

We help you spend your IP budget on the inventions that do that job, and we’re candid about the ones that don’t — so you avoid ending up with a large, expensive collection of patents that looks impressive but protects very little.

Where a patent isn’t the right tool, we say so, and we bring in the other forms of protection — registered designs for how a product looks, trade marks for your brand, copyright, and confidentiality — so each one earns its place in a single coherent strategy.

Who we work with

From technology start-ups and university spin-outs to established manufacturers, research organisations and multinationals. Whether you’re protecting a first invention or managing patents across many countries, we work as an extension of your engineering and commercial teams — from identifying what’s worth protecting and drafting the patent, through to coordinating international filings, advising on whether you’re free to sell in a given market, and supporting the commercial side.
